The 10 Most Popular Dog Names in Colorado and the United States
Here in Colorado, there are a ton of different and unique names that residents give their dogs.
A new report released by Camp Bow Wow, lists the hottest dog names of 2022. While my dog's name isn't on the list, maybe yours is!
How I Named My Dog
Meet my pup, Sonny!
Sonny's full name is actually Sonny Bane. Call me crazy, but I think dogs deserve a middle name too.
I'm a huge Law & Order SVU fan and one of my favorite characters is Dominik Carisi, a New York detective who becomes an assistant district attorney.
I mean look how HOT this guy is. I'm not planning on having kids in my life, so I can't name children after him, but I hope he accepts the honor of me naming my dog after his character.
Sonny's "dad" chose the middle name, Bane, after the Batman character.
Since Sonny is a dachshund, and because dachshunds are widely considered as small and non-threatening, he felt he needed a "tough" middle name.
I agreed, but only because Tom Hardy is also very much a hottie.

Dog Names Are Important Too
Of course, you can have more fun with naming your dog than naming a kid, but it's important to choose a name that won't confuse your pup.
"Your dog's name will be used for training purposes, so it's important to choose carefully," states Camp Bow Wow's Animal Health and Behavioral Expert Erin Askeland.
"Short, two-syllable names are helpful for getting your dog's attention, while names that sound like commonly used words or cues could confuse your pup. For example, 'Shay' is cute, but it may sound like 'stay' to a dog."
