Grand Junction, Colorado Humane Society Shares Heartwarming Story
Loving a pet can be one of the biggest enrichments to a pet owner’s life, and because of this, losing a pet can be an incredibly difficult, sad experience.

There’s a reason that they call dogs “man’s best friends,” so losing a furry friend is exponentially more difficult the closer that you become with them.
Recently, Roice-Hurst Humane Society published a sad story about a dog who is in hospice care and will lose his life soon because of an illness, with a heartfelt request for someone in Western Colorado to give him a home to live the rest of his life in.
Grand Junction, Colorado Humane Society + Relic’s Story
The story, which was published on Facebook on January 29, 2026, told the sad story of Relic, a dog who was living at the Grand Junction humane society in hospice care.
Unfortunately, Relic is in hospice care because of a tumor on his spleen and is reaching the end of his life. This would mean that the individual or family that adopts him would inevitably have to prepare to lose him.
Nonetheless, the humane society requested a forever home so he could have “a soft place to land and lots of love” for the rest of his life.

In addition, Roice-Hurst Humane Society has also offered to cover the costs of vet supplies and care while Relic continues to receive hospice care.
