Injured Dog Recovering After Botched DIY Neuter in Grand Junction
Roice-Hurst Humane Society in Grand Junction, Colorado, is known for going above and beyond when it comes to taking care of pets and finding homes for them.

Unfortunately, because of the nature of the humane society, sometimes pets are brought to the shelter with serious injuries, and that was the case recently, as a dog arrived at the shelter after receiving a botched, do-it-yourself neuter job.
Injured Grand Junction, Colorado Dog Arrives at Humane Society
The story was shared on the official Roice-Hurst Humane Society Facebook page on Friday, January 23, at 7:30 a.m.
The post was accompanied by a photo of the animal, a two-year-old mixed-breed male dog named Scout, as well as the story of how he was the victim of an attempted neuter job not performed by a professional veterinarian.
Roice-Hurst also shared that they can help offer low-cost neutering and spaying for pets and that this type of surgery should never be performed at home unless by a skilled, professional vet.
Luckily, after arriving at Roice-Hurst Humane Society, Scout was taken into surgery to repair the botched neuter job, and he is currently recovering.
The humane society noted that despite being a victim of a poor neuter job, Scout “may be the happiest and most trusting pet in the whole shelter.”
