This may sound odd coming from one of John Henry "Doc" Holliday's ancestors, but he's not the deadliest gunfighter with ties to Western Colorado. That notoriety belongs to "Kid Curry" Logan who has the closest ties possible to Parachute, Colorado.

Doc Holliday is famous because of his involvement in the shootout at the OK Corral, but Kid Curry is widely thought to have been the fastest gun in the west as documented by BecomeGunSmith.org. He's known to have run with Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch and was at least partially responsible for inspiring the movie.

Logan's ties to Parachute are so famous, Parachute was featured in his reference in the video game Call of Juarez Gunfighter.

Kid Curry has ties to Moab, Utah also. His famous revenge killing of a sheriff happened there. But, Parachute gets the nod for being the place where Kid Curry met his end. A posse caught up with him in Parachute in June of 1904 and after being wounded, he took his own life.

Ironically, I walked right by his grave and didn't even know it a couple months ago when I visited my ancestor's grave in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Kid Curry is buried in the same cemetery right across from Doc's memorial.
