Ole Miss Routs Oklahoma State, 48-20, For Sugar Bowl Victory
Chad Kelly threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns as Ole Miss blew out Oklahoma State to take home the Rebels’ first Sugar Bowl trophy since 1969. Kelly also added 79 yards on the ground. The expected offensive shootout never materialized as Oklahoma State’s offense could not get untracked. OSU scored the first three points of the game before Ole Miss went on a 34-3 run to put the game away before halftime.
The Cowboys managed just 366 total yards, their second-lowest total of the season. OSU had 63 rushing yards, but spent most of the night in negative yardage until backup quarterback J.W. Walsh ran for 73 yards and two scores once the game was long-since decided. Starting quarterback Mason Rudolph was just 18-of-31 for 179 yards.
Ole Miss’ star receiver Laquan Treadwell caught three touchdown passes as the Rebels rolled up 554 total yards. The win caps the Rebels’ first ten-win season since 2003.
