What is "Steps & Stories"?

The Mesa County Public Libraries hold a session of "Steps & Stories" every month through October. It's always on the first Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Put simply, you get together with others at Grand Junction's Sherwood Park. For the next hour, you enjoy a walk around the park while sharing what you've been reading, listening to, or watching.

Get in your steps while walking around Sherwood Park and share what you’ve been reading, listening to, or binge-watching. Please wear your mask. We will keep socially distanced, being mindful of everyone’s safety. - Mesa County Libraries

 Who can participate?

Looking at the webpage, it suggests this group is intended for the adult crowd. Aside from that, the only other criteria involve having a topic you would like to discuss.

Where is it at?

The event is at Sherwood Park. If your not familiar with this park, you'll find it at 1301 E. Sherwood Drive in Grand Junction. In other words, it's northeast of the intersection at 1st Street and North Avenue.

Why should you participate?

Why should you participate in a group such as this? There are a number of reasons. First of all, spring is here, and it's a perfect time to get out, enjoy a little fresh air, and discuss books.

If that's not enough, here are five reasons, courtesy of lclibrary.org, why you should participate:

  • Meet people just like you
  • Meet people that are different from you
  • Get back to reading
  • Stretch your reading muscles
  • Discover new genres and authors

This sounds like fun.

I might just have to play hooky from the studio for an hour on Friday, April 2, and join this group. The pandemic offered a little extra downtime, and I've finally caught up on my reading. One of my selections, a biography, is something I would like to share with others. It was an informative, long-overdue book others might enjoy. I hope to see you there.
