As a fisherman, nothing disturbs me more than being out on the water and seeing trash along the bank. I always pick it up. If you are as passionate about clean water as I am, here's your chance to help out.

For over a decade W.A.T.E.R, “Western Association to Enjoy Rivers” have been cleaning up the Colorado River. Every year volunteers hit the river armed with trash bags picking up every piece of trash they can. On Saturday, August 5th you'll have your chance to join the team and help out.

It matters little if you're a fisherman, rafter, or kayaker. If you use this great waterway you own it something. Here's your opportunity to give back. Several stretches of the river in Junction, Palisade, and Fruita will be cleaned up.

Not only recreational users owe the river. The Colorado is the lifeblood that drives everything in the valley. Agriculture isn't possible without it. The identity of the valley is defined by the Colorado River. That's why W.A.T.E.R. is asking for your help. If you own a boat or raft, you'll eligible to participate. You can sign up by calling 970-241-0441, or 970-623-5158.  Or shoot them an email to whitewaterwest@bresnan.net.

The three Colcordo sections are:
- Palisade boat ramp to Corn Lake State Park
- Corn Lake State Park to Redlands Parkway boat ramp
- Redlands Parkway boat ramp to Fruita State Park boat ramp
Clean up begins at 9:00 am. There will be a free cookout afterwards.
