Grand Junction Police Confirm Report of Gunshots Fired
The Grand Junction Police Department has confirmed the noises reported from a resident just before noon today (February 5) were in fact caused by someone discharging a firearm.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 2900 block of G Road at around 11:40 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, there were several gun casings found in the street.
A witness reports the suspected shooter was driving a black 1990's Dodge Durango with black wheels and dark tinted windows.
Police said there were no reported injuries and an initial investigation could not find any homes or structures that were hit by bullets.
Grand Junction Police investigators are hoping there are other witnesses to the event that might be able to provide more information on the shots fired. They are also hoping someone can give them a good description of the suspect or the location of the vehicle the suspect was driving.
Anyone with information, even if it seems minor, is asked to call the Grand Junction Police Department at at 970-242-6707. Those wanting to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 970-241-7867 to make a report.
