This Colorado Town Had the Coldest Temperature in the United States This Morning
It's that time of year again. It's the time of year when Colorado communities frequently experience the lowest temperatures in the contiguous United States. That was the case this morning, Monday, December 13, 2021.
This is not at all uncommon during the winter months. In this case, it should come as no surprise which Colorado town had the lowest temp.

According to the National Weather Service, the lowest temperature in the contiguous United States for today was recorded in Gunnison. The folks in Gunnison enjoyed a toasty -8 degrees during Monday's early morning hours. Let me say that again - Gunnison had this morning's record with a temperature of negative 8.
Was This a 'One-Time Thing'?
Not at all. It just so happens Gunnison had the lowest temperature in the contiguous United States Sunday morning as well. Early Sunday, Gunnison recorded a temperature of -11.
Gunnison Doesn't Get All The Glory
Not to be outdone, the town of Crested Butte, Colorado, enjoyed the lowest temperature in the contiguous United States on Saturday, December 11, with a blistering -17 degrees.

The area two miles west-southwest of Grand Mesa recorded -13 early Saturday morning, December 11, 2021. At the same time, the area three miles northeast of Wagon Wheel Gap, Colorado, recorded the same -13 degrees.

We don't have much in the way of snow here in the Grand Valley, but at least we have miserable freezing temperatures.
