The mom-and-pop establishment posted a message on Facebook on Sunday, July 13, 2025, offering to house pets that have been displaced due to evacuations prompted by the nearby wildfire, stating the following:

If you've had to evacuate due to wildfires and need a temporary place to house your small pets (guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters) and reptiles, we have room! Call the store (970) 245-2526 for more details.

The family-owned J & M Aquatics and Pet Center has been serving the Grand Valley since 1970 and is a source for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, guinea pigs, and even tarantulas.

The above post is just one example of Western Colorado coming together to help out the members of the community who need a little love and assistance.
