What the Residents of Grand Junction, Colorado Are Thankful For

We asked the question yesterday, February 8, 2022, on Facebook. The replies were awesome. As you'll see, there were a few consistent themes. In one case, a person was thankful for a new job.

Benefits of Practicing Gratitude

According to Psychology Today, there are at least seven scientifically proven benefits associated with gratitude. Via its official website, Psychology Today states:

We all have the ability and opportunity to cultivate gratitude. Rather than complain about the things you think you deserve, take a few moments to focus on all that you have. Developing an “attitude of gratitude” is one of the simplest ways to improve your satisfaction with life.

Their list of seven scientifically proven benefits include:

  • Gratitude opens the door to more relationships
  • Gratitude improves physical health
  • Gratitude improves psychological health
  • Gratitude enhances empathy and reduces aggression
  • Grateful people sleep better
  • Gratitude improves self-esteem
  • Gratitude increases mental strength

They had me at "Grateful people sleep better." I'll take it. If practicing a little more gratitude will help me get a better night's sleep, I'm all in. Increased mental strength? Sign me up for that, too.
