Salvation Army Thrift Store Grand Re-Opening in Grand Junction, Colorado

The Salvation Army thrift stores in Western Colorado have been playing musical chairs for a while. Today, Friday, February 25, 2022, the new store opened at an old location at 1155 N. 1st Street.

A crowd gathered just before 10 this morning for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. After that, they swarmed the store in search of deals.

Great Kickoff For This Grand Junction Colorado Store

The last time I saw anything like this I was watching the Great Cabbage Patch Doll Shortage of the 1980s unfold on television. Okay, it wasn't that bad, but it was certainly "aggressive." It seems deal-seekers take their passion very seriously.

The doors weren't open 30 seconds before a few people had armloads of stuff. This store, like most thrift stores, carries clothing, furniture, toys, books, and decorative items.

Not My Bag

My mother lived for stores such as this. It seems that bit of genetic material did not get passed down to me. Thrift stores aren't my thing. I do sort of enjoy refinishing solid-wood furniture, and from time to time visit these stores in search of quality pieces. In all fairness, this store had a handful of cabinets I wouldn't mind owning.

How Are The Deals At This Grand Junction Store?

That's a matter of opinion. I was surprised at how many brand-new still-in-the-box items this store carried. My limited experience with stores such as this excludes me as an authority in these matters.
