Wow, that's profound. My kitchen functions as a place where I grab a plate so I can go to the living room and enjoy my pizza in front of the TV. That's about all the kitchen is good for.

The house I grew up in was designed and built by my dad back in 1971. The kitchen wasn't the hub of the house. The kitchen was an area roughly 25 square feet where a person could stand in one spot and yet reach every appliance, cabinet, or counter.

In the survey, conducted by Ally Home, some respondents said it’s their new favorite spot because it’s where “they can hide from family members.”
