Once this Grand Junction business found out that selling Christmas trees pays for the Boys Scout troop's summer camp, they stepped up and donated $1,000.

Boy Scouts Troop 303 runs a Christmas tree lots in front of where Sutherland's used to be near Mesa Mall. Their credit card machine had some issues last week and anyone who purchased a Christmas tree between 11-4 on Friday, November 29 didn't actually get charged for their tree.

They made around $1,600 selling Christmas trees, but none of the charges went through. Some good samaritans have come back to pay for their tree and local Grand Junction businesses are stepping up to help.

America's Mattress Colorado is going to reimburse the troop for whatever they don't recover. They commented that they want to help these young workers get paid for what they've earned.

But the Christmas spirit doesn't end there, Western Rockies Federal Credit Union also pitched in. Western Rockies Federal Credit Union decided to donate $1,000 to the Boy Scouts Troop.

We talked to Shea Brammer, the Marketing Coordinator at Western Rockies Federal Credit Union, who said:

We were heartbroken when we first heard about it. The thing that really hit home is that this is how they fund their summer camp and we thought this is not acceptable to us. We thought what could we do, how could we help?

Shea told us that our post on Mix's Facebook is how he initially found out about it the situation with the Boy Scouts. Whenever he dropped off their donation, he said it was a very emotional experience. When he handed the treasurer, Wendy, the $1,000 check she started crying and then so did Shea.

Shea and Western Rockies Federal Credit Union hope that people reading this will get inspired and that word to others that weren't charged for their Christmas trees. They're hoping that this inspires others to be more generous, compassionate and come together when in a time of need.
