Don’t Forget Royal Gorge

Remember when you went on that family vacation and stopped at Royal Gorge? Walking across the bridge and looking down at the Arkansas River below? It's still cool and worth the drive.

It's open daily, weather permitting. My last trip was a few years ago when my son and I was at Camp Alexander for a summer scout camp. We enjoyed a day trip to Royal Gorge and rafted The Arkansas River. That was a day I'll never forget!

Of course, the walk across the bridge is awesome. Second only to the gondola ride. It's a fun place to spend the day. It's about a 4-hour drive over. A cool drive for sure. Highway 50 crosses Monarch Pass, goes through Salida and follows the Arkansas River through some of the most scenic parts of Colorado.

On the way into, or out of, you may get lucky enough to see some wildlife. That's an added bonus. Sometimes it's easy to forget, or take for granted, the cool places in the great State of Colorado As a newcomer, I'm spending my weekends trying to get caught up on what you guys have been enjoying all your lives. It's a special place for sure.
