The building, located at 7525 East Hampden Avenue in Denver, was originally built as an Embassy Suites hotel but has since been converted into a homeless shelter.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 7, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m. The Denver Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after receiving word of the incident.
Upon examining the child, the fire department rushed the victim to Children's Hospital Denver at around 2:33 p.m.
Little is known about the circumstances of the fall, the identity of the child, or the current status of the victim.
However, the Denver Fire Department has reported that upon arriving at the scene, the child was awake and responsive despite suffering the six-story fall.
While the child did in fact survive the fall, it was reported that he or she did suffer multiple injuries, prompting a speedy trip to the hospital to be treated.
The former hotel was converted into a homeless shelter last year as part of a homelessness initiative put into place by Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and is now known as the Tamarac Family Shelter.
This particular building focuses on giving homes to families with children in need, and daily operations are currently being managed by the local Salvation Army.
