Corey Taylor is Coming to Grand Junction
It was just announced today, Tuesday, June 22nd, that Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor will be playing a solo show in Grand Junction on Sunday, August 8th, 2021.
The concert will be held at the Grand Junction Convention Center, located downtown at 159 Main Street with support from the opening act Cherry Bombs.
Taylor released his debut solo album titled 'CMFT' on October 2nd, 2020, spawning the singles 'CMFT Must Be Stopped,' 'Black Eyes Blue' and 'Samantha's Gone.'
I was fortunate enough to speak to Taylor about the record, who had that the writing and recording process was the most fun he'd had in the studio since working on Slipknot's self-titled debut record, released in 1999. You can check out my entire interview with the singer here.
However, don't expect to see anything that closely resembles a Slipknot concert when attending a Corey Taylor solo show. Taylor's 'CMFT' record is eclectic to say the least, incorporating modern rock with catchy melodies and, at times, hip hop, with appearances by such artists at Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie.
Although Stone Sour was formed before Slipknot, Taylor's successful music career began with tireless touring behind Slipknot's first, self-titled album, most notably on the Ozzy Osbourne-led Ozzfest.
Slipknot's hard-hitting style, coupled with all nine members of the band dressed in coveralls and masks quickly made them a force to be reckoned with, gaining a huge following that has grown exponentially over the years.
The show at the Grand Junction Convention Center will be general admission only, with tickets going on sale this Friday, June 25th at 10 a.m.
