Interestingly, data that was compiled recently shows that in most of the state's counties, humans either outnumber domesticated animals, or cattle outnumber humans and every other domesticated animal.

However, this data shows an even more interesting statistic that shows two counties that stand alone in terms of the type of livestock that outnumbers humans and all other domesticated animals.
Sheep Outnumber Humans in One Colorado County
The first surprising statistic shows that in Moffat County, sheep are more prevalent than any other domesticated animal, as well as humans. In case you're not familiar, Moffat County is located in the northwest corner of the state, where it shares a border with Utah and Wyoming and is home to the towns of Craig and Dinosaur, Colorado.
This figure is especially unique as, on a national level, only a total of nine counties share this distinction.
Chickens Outnumber Humans in One Colorado County
The other anomaly when it comes to this research occurs in Montrose County, where the most prevalent animal that also outnumbers humans is chickens. Of course, Montrose County is most widely known for being home to Montrose and is located on Colorado's Western Slope just south of both Mesa and Delta Counties.
While Montrose is the only county in Colorado in which chickens are more prevalent than all other domestic animals, as well as humans, there are a total of 593 counties that share this distinction nationwide.
