According to the review and comparison website 'Safewise', Colorado is tops with pets.

First, a little about the folks that shared the findings of "The Most Pet-Friendly States in America." The SafeWise website is "...a professional review and comparison website." They pay experienced writers to do "...in-depth research and provide candid feedback about products and services." The author looked at several factors to get the 'big picture' on pet-friendly. She considered the states anti-abuse laws, the number of and access to veterinarians, how many no-kill shelters the state had, pet-friendly restaurants, hotels, and activities were also determining factors.

Colorado ranks as the #2 most 'pet-friendly' state out of the 50. It's not surprising to me. I'm a dog lover myself and miss my old yellow lad. I have pets residing in nearly every home around me in my neighborhood near downtown Grand Junction.

Here's what the Safewise ranking had to say, "Colorado is a pet paradise with miles of scenic hiking trails. The Centennial State is home to 74 no-kill shelters and 2,150 veterinarians too. Colorado also has some of the nation’s best animal protection laws. For example, domestic abuse can include crimes against a victim’s animal, and veterinarians are required to report suspected cruelty. Top it off with Colorado’s stunning national parks and your mutt may never want to leave the mountains."

Well, there you have it. Colorado isn't just a great place to humans, pets, especially dogs, can take comfort knowing that they live in one of the most 'friendly' states in the US. If there was only a way to explain it to them? I guess a pat on the head will have to do.
