In late December, President Donald Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Since then, Colorado representatives have been getting a lot of attention.

Colorado's four House Democrats — DeGette, Neguse,Jason Crow and Ed Perlmutter voted yes on both articles of impeachment.

Colorado’s three House Republicans — Reps. Ken Buck, Scott Tipton, and Doug Lamborn voted against both articles of impeachment.

Trump began his re-election campaign by aiming at freshman Colorado Congressman, Joe Neguse for supporting impeachment before being sworn into Congress.

According to Denver Post, Neguse is seen as a rising star within the Democratic party after his verbiage during questioning of a Republican witness on Dec. 4 was adopted into the second article of impeachment, for obstruction of Congress.

Cory Gardner, Republican Senator from Colorado, has stayed silent for most of 2019, dodging the press and consistently canceling interviews. He is up for re-election in November with nine Democrats currently prepared to challenge him, according to Denver Post.

The articles of impeachment are awaiting transfer from the House to the Senate where a simple majority vote is required. Gardener is expected to play an important role as the Senate Republican majority is narrow, according to Denver Post.
