A Colorado church pastor was arrested last week in Woodland Park for numerous charges, including sexual assault on a child.

The man, 49-year-old Johnny Monderen is a pastor at Church of the Son in Colorado Springs and has since been released on bond.

In addition to the felony count of sexual assault on a child, Monderen is being charged with felony counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and sexual exploitation of a child, as well as misdemeanor counts of menacing and unlawful display of the sexually explicit matter.

What makes this case even more shocking, is that there allegedly numerous young victims coming forward and accusing Monderen of sexually criminal behavior. Teller County Police Commander Andrew Leibbrand had this to say about the situation:

With school being back in, a lot of the kids are reporting things that have happened while they've been out of school because of COVID. So we are seeing a little bit of a rise in reporting, kids reporting things. So that's kind of what tipped us off here, was a report to an older sibling. But he finally reported to somebody who was able to come and tell us.

The victim mentioned in Commander Leibbrand's above statement has allegedly been taken to a safe location.

If convicted, Monderen could face 4 to 12 years in prison and a maximum fine of $750,000 for each of the three felony charges.

Unfortunately, it would appear that Monderen has been involved in this disgusting type of behavior for years, as police are actively investigating the possibility of numerous additional victims.

Monderen is scheduled to appear back in court next Thursday, November 5th.
