Colorado’s Marriage Success Rate Beats Most of the Country
As a whole, Colorado has a pretty good track record when it comes to not just getting married, but staying married. The most recent data was taken in 2024 and shows that Colorado marriages seem to work out better than the majority of the other states in the country.
What Are Colorado’s Marriage and Divorce Rates?
As of 2024, the marriage rate for individuals 15 years of age or older was 20.9 per 1,000 residents. The same data shows that in that same year, the divorce rate was only 7.8 per 1,000 residents 15 years of age or older, showing a fairly significant difference of 13.1 per 1,000 people.

Overall, Colorado had the fifth-highest marriage rate in the country that year, though two of the states that share a border with the Centennial State ranked higher.
Colorado’s Neighboring States’ Marriage and Divorce Rates
In 2024, Wyoming’s marriage rate was 21.1 per 1,000 people, the fourth-highest in the nation, and Utah’s marriage rate was the highest at 24.5.
Both of these states also reported low divorce rates of 7.7 and 6.8 in Wyoming and Utah, respectively.
Kansas barely trailed Colorado with a marriage rate of 20.4 and a divorce rate of 6.1, followed by Oklahoma with a marriage rate of 20.3, Kansas with a marriage rate of 20.4, Nebraska with a marriage rate of 20, and Arizona’s marriage rate in 2024 was 18.5 per 1,000 residents.
A stark contrast was shown with Colorado’s southern neighbor, New Mexico, as it was reported that in 2024, the marriage rate in the Land of Enchantment was only 14.4 per 1,000 people, the sixth-lowest in the nation.
