Grand Junction Is Currently Colorado’s Top-Ranked “Small Town” in National Parade Magazine Poll
While Grand Junction isn’t exactly considered a small town to most, the largest city on Colorado’s Western Slope is currently the top-rated “small town” in a contest from Parade Magazine.
Is Grand Junction the Best “Small Town” in Colorado?
The contest, which is being held by Parade Magazine, will name “America’s Favorite Small Town” on June 12, 2026, with the winner from each state set to be announced on June 1st.

Participants can vote daily, and it would appear that many Grand Junction residents have been doing just that as the Western Colorado city is currently ranked 9th nationally, the highest spot held by any Colorado location.
Segun, Texas, is currently leading the polls, followed by Rayne, Louisiana, Le Mars, Iowa, Lodi, California, Buena Park, Ohio, Danville, Kentucky, Madison, Indiana, and Leonardtown, Maryland.
As far as Colorado towns go, Estes Park is currently holding the number 14 spot, and towns like Breckenridge, Leadville, Golden, Alamosa, and Snowmass Village are also in the running.
Towns are split into five categories: the west, the southwest, the midwest, the northeast, and the southeast, with Colorado landing in the west category.
There is also a pretty significant incentive to vote, as each participant is entered to win a trip to any of the small towns listed on the website, a prize with a value of $1,500.
The winning town will not only be featured in Parade Magazine, but the publication will also provide a special 4th of July celebration with a celebrity appearance.
