However, in addition to the South Park creators owning homes in Steamboat Springs, there is also a bridge in the mountain town that was named after The Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown.
Bridge in Steamboat Springs Colorado Named After James Brown
Back in 1993, shortly after the town of Avon voted to name a bridge, "Bob," the town of Steamboat Springs was met with the same task. In a strange turn of events, former city employee Craig Poff casually mentioned that he was a fan of James Brown which inspired an anonymous voter to suggest the idea to the town.
The bridge was officially named The James Brown Soul Center of the Universe Bridge and was dedicated to the Godfather of Soul in a special ceremony in which Brown attended.
Unfortunately, the night prior to the dedication ceremony, vandals spray-painted racial slurs on the bridge but luckily, that did not deter Brown from being all smiles as his speech on the podium was met with raucous cheers.
Though James Brown passed away in 2006, the bridge still bears his name and you can find it right in the heart of Steamboat Springs at 1645 Shield Drive.
