However, even if a pet owner is a fan of both dogs and cats, there's usually a solid preference between the two, thus the common distinctions of 'dog person' and 'cat person.'
Recently, a study was released ranking each state on a scale from those with the most dog people to the most cat people, and Colorado's spot on the list may or may not come as a surprise to you.
How Much of a Dog Person/Cat Person State Is Colorado?
The study ranked every state in the nation on a scale from one to 50, with lower numbers indicating that residents prefer dogs and higher numbers indicating a preference for cats.

In total, Colorado landed at number 14, indicating a strong preference for dogs over cats. While this may not be especially surprising given the number of dogs you might come across on hiking trails and the aforementioned bar patios, it is fascinating.
The states that were ranked as preferring dogs over cats the most include Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, while the states that prefer cats the most include Maine, Vermont, Washington, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.
