Things are heating up in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and this Friday night 4 of the top teams will do battle at Brownson Arena in two games that figure to provide plenty of drama and edge- of- your- seat intensity. That’s why Colorado Mesa University is urging fans to buy game tickets in advance. Mavericks fans are expected to be out in full force.

The action begins at 5:30 with the women’s game featuring the 15-0(11-0 RMAC) CMU Mavericks, currently ranked #4 in the nation, taking on the Metro State Roadrunners. Metro State was the #1 team in the RMAC pre-season poll and currently sits in second place in the conference standings with a record of 9-2, and so this promises to be close and hard- fought. The Mavericks have been outscoring their opponents by an average of 22 points, while the Roadrunners two conference losses have been by a combined total of 4 points. While the Mavericks hope to stay unbeaten, more importantly they hope to get the #1 seed in the RMAC Shootout and the chance to host a first-round playoff game. Winning this game would be a huge step toward that goal.

Then at 7:30 the Maverick men, 12-3 overall, 9-2 in the RMAC will take on a Metro State team which this week earned the #1 ranking in the nation. The Mavericks have defeated the Roadrunners 2 of the last 3 times these teams have played, including an overtime victory last season in the first round of the RMAC Shootout. But the Roadrunners are 15-0 this season, with 4 returning starters from last year's squad.
