Former NFL player Chad Johnson, known as ‘Ochocinco’ to football fans, was given 30 days in jail for a probation violation. Johnson was on probation after pleading no contest to head-butting his then-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada, during an altercation last August. Johnson was in court because he had failed to meet with his probation officer during the three previous months. There was a no-jail time plea deal in place with prosecutors but Johnson messed that deal up in court.

Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh angrily rejected the deal after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the backside in court. When asked if he was satisfied with his lawyer Adam Swickle, Johnson smiled and gave his attorney a light swat on the rear - as football players routinely do to each other on the field. The courtroom erupted in laughter and that is when McHugh said she wouldn't accept the deal. Johnson tried to apologize and insisted he meant no disrespect but McHugh said ''I don't know that you're taking this whole thing seriously” and ordered Johnson taken from the courtroom in handcuffs. As a rule I try to avoid courtrooms mainly because judges have no sense of humor.
