Over the weekend, a body was discovered floating in the Colorado River just west of Glenwood Springs.

According to the Garfield County Sheriff's Department, two commercial rafters discovered the body, pulled it to shore, and called 9-1-1.  The body appeared to have been in the water and dead for a matter of days.

The coroner's office retrieved the body of what appeared to be a middle-aged man, but they were unable to make an initial identification. An autopsy is expected to determine the probable cause of death as well as the man's identity.

No further information was released.

UPDATE: Authorities have determined the identity of the man but are waiting to notify next of kin before releasing the name to the public. An autopsy indicated there were no signs of foul play, trauma, or criminal activity.
