We all know there are so many questions going into this upcoming school year, and we will have a lot of those answers very soon. But one thing is for sure, the school year will not begin like originally planned. The school year was set to start on August 10th but now the district has decided to push that back one week to now open the doors on August 17th.

The start for Kindergarteners will be on August 19th, and preschool will be open starting on August 24th.

Superintendent Diana Sirko put out an update last week with more details which you can read here. But essentially it says they need the extra time to make sure that all classrooms are prepared with all the safety supplies needed for Phase 1 of their Safe School Reopening Plan. If they don't receive all the supplies necessary they may have to push the start date back again but the hope at this point is to be open on August 17th.

There is a special Board of Education meeting where more details about the reopening plan will be given which is set to take place next Tuesday, July 28th at Orchard Mesa Middle School that will begin at 6 p.m. If you plan on attending that meeting you will be required to wear a face mask.

As more details become available in regards to District 51 and kids going back to school here in Western Colorado we will be sure to keep you up to date with the information.
