A First Person Look at the Sochi Downhill Course

Now that the alpine events have started I thought we could take a first person look at the Sochi downhill course. I have been on some big hills sledding but I have never hit the slopes and I have to say this is a little crazy. These guys hit speeds of 80 plus mph on a pair of thin skis.

Even though I have never skied I have always watched it on television. I know some people will think I’m like a NASCAR fan and just want to see the crash but not really. The crashes can be cool watching these athletes fly down the mountain and make it to the finish line is much cooler. The European skiers have dominated the sport for years but the Americans are getting better each year. Who knows maybe in a few years we will have the upper hand on them.
