Sochi Olympics

This morning Team USA earned a spot in the final four of the men’s hockey tournament in Sochi, Russia. They got there by knocking off the Czech Republic 5-2 this morning in the second round of the hockey playoffs. They are now just two wins away from holding the gold medal in their hands.

Thursday morning at 5am the ladies American ice hockey team will go for the gold medal in Sochi. The ladies beat Sweden 6-1 to earn a trip to the gold medal game. They will take on their archrivals Team Canada who beat our ladies in-group play 3-2 earlier at the Sochi Olympics.

Team USA completed phase one at the Sochi Olympics and earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Americans beat all three teams in their group and will play on Wednesday against either The Czech Republic or Slovakia.

The 2014 men’s Olympics hockey tournament got under way today in Sochi, Russia and the American men slammed Slovakia to kick things off. Team USA started slow but took over the game in the second period.

Here is my preview on the 2014 men’s Olympic hockey tournament set to get under way in Sochi, Russia. There are 12 teams competing for the three medals but like any tournament not all teams are the same. I think the three medals will be won by some combination of these four teams.

Now that the alpine events have started I thought we could take a first person look at the Sochi downhill course. I have been on some big hills sledding but I have never hit the slopes and I have to say this is a little crazy. These guys hit speeds of 80 plus mph on a pair of thin skis.

One of the great Olympic sports is Curling and who better to explain the sport than Conan’s Andy Richter. The Curling competition is just getting underway at the Sochi Olympics and like many people I bet you have no idea what the hell Curling is.

The Olympics are under way so let’s take a ride with the American Bobsled team. The Bobsled competition will start on February 16th with the 2-man races. This year hopes are high with team USA as we have a new sled and a team that could win in Russia.

With the Olympics just getting underway lets take a GoPro view of the Sochi Snowboard course with Alexey Sobolev. There have been so many reports of how messed up things are in Sochi right now but it looks like the snowboarding course is ready to go.

I though I would share a little 101 class on how the 2014 men’s Olympic hockey tournament will work in Sochi, Russia. The men will began play on February 12th and will play the gold medal game February 23. All games will be played in Sochi and should be a very exciting tournament.
