Colorado Cemetery Home to Brothel Madame + Familiar Horror Name

One of Colorado's most famous mining towns that thrives to this day is Cripple Creek. In this town, you'll find historic buildings, gambling, and one cemetery in particular that is accompanied by quite a morsel of legend.

Cripple Creek Colorado's Mt. Pisgah Cemetery

Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in the historic mining town of Cripple Creek, Colorado is not just old and fascinating, but two gravesites are especially attractive to tourists.

One of these is the final resting place of a historical figure by the name of Pearl De Vere. During the mining boom of the mid-1800s, De Vere served as the Madame of the local brothel. However, the Madame tragically passed away from a drug overdose after learning of her husband's infidelities.

The other most popular gravesite isn't famous for the figure that is buried there, but rather for the name of the man. This grave is the final resting place of a rather unremarkable figure by the name of Fred E. Krueger.

While the man buried here has virtually no connection to the similarly-named horror villain Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, visitors to the cemetery seek this grave out for the sheer novelty of it.

The cemetery has graves that date back to the 19th Century, a special section for members of clubs and societies such as The Elks, and much more.
