Zack Snyder Fans Launching Official Website for Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League’
Not long after Justice League hit theaters, a certain corner of the DC fanbase collectively channeled the “denial” stage of grief into a petition demanding the release of the “Zack Snyder cut” of the film. After Snyder was forced to leave Justice League in the middle of post-production for personal reasons, Warner Bros. enlisted Joss Whedon to complete the film, resulting in extensive reshoots — which means that a Snyder cut of the film doesn’t exist, and were WB to cobble one together, it wouldn’t amount to much of anything.
That hasn’t stopped vocal Snyder fans from conjuring the mythical idea of this director’s cut, which they believe to be the far superior version of Justice League. To be fair, they are right about the fact that the film feels like a freaky Frankenstein experiment that haphazardly combined two completely different organisms with only (and just barely) the most superficial similarities. But for as passionate as these fans are about Snyder’s movies and the DCEU, they don’t quite seem to understand how filmmaking works.
Over a month has passed since Justice League hit theaters, and though you might have forgotten about the petition for the Snyder cut, these fans most assuredly have not. In fact, they’re upping the ante with a new website: forsnydercut.org — .org, even!
As of now, the only feature on the website is a countdown timer for the official launch, which will take place on January 1, 2018. While some people are content swearing off carbs and cigarettes and declaring their commitment to read and exercise more, Zack Snyder’s fans have a different New Year’s resolution in mind. It’s good to have hobbies.
