A woman died Thursday after falling from a chairlift at a Colorado Ski Resort.

According to the Denver Post, 40-year-old the woman and her two daughters fell from the chairlift at Ski Granby Ranch in Grand County. The woman died at the hospital, and her two daughters, ages 9 and 12 were injured.

The three fell about 25 feet, but there was no indication of what caused them to fall to the ground.

Chairlift deaths are extremely rare, with only 12 deaths nationwide reported since 1973, according to the National Ski Areas Association.

The report indicates the last chairlift death in Colorado was in 2002.
