First Colorado Ski Resort Opens for 2020 Season, It's Not A-Basin

Colorado's 2020-2021 ski season starts Wednesday (Oct. 28) following the late-October snowstorm, which dropped 22 inches of snow on the Wolf Creek Ski Area, according to KDVR. Wolf Creek also received a COVID-19 plan approval.

Typically, Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area are in competition for the 'race to open' on I-70 every year. Right now, Loveland says it hopes to open by the end of the month or by early November.

How Ski Areas Plan to Open During COVID-19

Last season, A-Basin closed in March because of COVID-19, then reopened over Memorial Day weekend when the state allowed for it... only to close again on June 7. A-Basin, which is also usually the last ski resort to close every year, said that drought conditions have affected current snowmaking operations.
