What Is the Construction Project At 32 and E Road?
Progress is continuing on Mind Spring Health's new Women's Recovery Center.
You may or may not have noticed the construction project E Road, just east of 32 Road in Clifton. Two substance abuse programs will be housed at the new 17,750 square-foot facility set to open later this year. The Women's Recovery Center is currently being housed at the Grand Junction Regional Center.
Mind Springs recently got a nice financial boost for the project. KKCO reports the Daniels Fund Grant Program gave them $200,000.
The women's program focuses on women who have young children and a history of trauma and abuse. The three-month residential treatment program allows the children to stay with their mother, as long as they are under the age of 10. It's the only for-women-only program on the western slope and one of the few in the state that allows children with no behavioral issues to stay with the mother.
The current facility does not have a place for people to go and "sit in quiet reflection." The new building will provide a place for this incorporating lighting that is said to be more "calming". An exercise room and yoga therapy are among the features to be utilized during the typical 90-day stay for patients.
The Circle is a state-run substance abuse program being expanded from a location in Pueblo and will have 16 beds available for both men and women who are dealing with mental health issues or drug and alcohol abuse.
This new facility is going to help a lot of people who have fallen on tough times.
