This week has been unusual and just now we found out about a new obstacle that we will need to maneuver around today. As the Grand Junction City Information Facebook page just posted that there was a water main break downtown Grand Junction at 620 Pitkin Avenue.

Crews are currently on the scene and working to restore the break although they are anticipating it taking around 8 hours for the job to be completed. Residents located on the south side of Pitkin between 5th and 7th will be without water during the duration of the project.

All drivers in that area are being asked to use extreme caution and yield to the crew that is currently working to fix the problem. The workers are trying to keep all equipment in the left lane of Pitkin located just behind the Grand Junction Police Department so please be careful.

As annoying as this unexpected water main break is for all the drivers in the area, it is much worse for the citizens that are now without water for 8 hours on a day that is going to hit temperatures into the mid ninety's.

Remember to stay hydrated today and to keep all kids and pets hydrated too. It doesn't take long in heat like we will experience today to get dehydrated quickly.
