[WATCH] Aggressive Bear that Shut Down Colorado Campground Has Been Euthanized

This week, Colorado Parks and Wildlife euthanized the "aggressive" bear that led to the shut down of the Lost Lake Campground near Nederland.

Over the past few years, this male bear, four-eight years old, has prompted 16 reports of campground property damage when food was left unsecured, according to 4 CBS Denver.

Wildlife officers don't usually manage the backcountry.

“If backcountry campers want to prevent something like this from happening again, they should invest in a bear canister to secure their food and scented items so bears do not get rewarded and become conditioned to living off of human food sources,” said Area Wildlife Manager Jason Duetsch. When they do, they become aggressive working to get what they can smell is there, and that is when public safety is at risk.”
