No matter the season, outdoor enthusiasts flock to Colorado's Barr Lake State Park to take advantage of all that the destination has to offer. Whether it's boating, fishing, or paddle boarding during the heat of summer or joining in on a guided nature walk during the winter, Barr Lake has endless opportunities for visitors to take part in.

Although the lake itself is closed during the colder months of the year, there are still plenty of things to do in the winter at this Brighton location.

One of those activities is checking out the festive hay bales that spontaneously pop up around the park. Each year, volunteers help to create adorably themed hay bale art. These festive creations continue to attract visitors during the off-season.

In the past, some of the creative additions have included Cookie Monster, a character from Angry Birds, and a giant smiling, snowman.

Currently, the art is seasonally-inspired, made to look like Santa's workshop, complete with an elf, a decorated tree, and of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The park's cheerful holiday-themed hay bale is located at the main entrance and can be seen right from the road.

Barr Lake State Park is hosting several other festive events throughout the end of the year, including a Winter Wonders Holiday Trail with animated inflatables and plenty of hot cocoa to go around. Check out the park's website to learn more.
