The holidays are coming up, and many of us are nervous: with COVID-19 on the rise in Larimer County again and Grandma urging us to "just board that plane!", how can we stay safe over the holidays?

Banner Health, in a recent press release, shared some tips for those planning to travel over the holidays.

In order to not spread COVID-19, the obvious best option recommended by the CDC is to just stay home. However, if that's not something you can do, Banner Health recommends taking "short trips by car with family members in the same household". With this option, you remain low-risk.

If you decide to take a train or a bus and stay with extended family, you put yourself at medium risk of contracting COVID-19. However, you can quarantine before visiting family, wear a mask, and distance yourself within their home to protect them, as well as monitor your condition for symptoms during your stay.

The highest risk option is to hop onboard a commercial flight. Since it will put you in close contact with hundreds of people who do not live in your immediate household, Banner Health recommends you try to avoid layovers as much as possible, bring portable hand sanitizer along with you on your flight, and use a hands-free boarding pass on your smartphone rather than a paper copy.
