The Mile-High NHRA Nationals Are This Weekend
It's the biggest event of the year at Bandimere Speedway.
If you love motorsports, this weekend there's only one place to be in Colorado, it's the 40th annual Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals powered by Pennzoil. It's three days of world-class drag competition in top fuel, funny car, pro-stock and pro-stock motorcycle at the legendary Bandimere Speedway just outside of Denver.
Last year, I was treated to a front-row seat to the action. A good frond of mine from Wichita, Kansas is part owner and crew member of the Scott Palmer-Cat Spot Top Fuel race team.
I was given total access. I was right down front at the starting line, spent time in the pits, and hung out with some of the crew. The raw power of these machines is mind-blowing. It's a sensory overload. The roar of an 11,000-horsepower Top Fuel engine, the smell of burning rubber and nitromethane fuel, and watching a machine cover a quarter-mile in less than 4 seconds, it's insane.
The weekend starts Thursday evening with the MOPAR "Big Block Party" presented by Pennzoil in Downtown Golden, Colorado. Friday the Midway opens at 1 PM with pro-stock racing starting at 4:15 PM. There's an Autograph Session Saturday at 2 PM with racing starting at 4:15 PM. Racing starts at 11 AM on Sunday. There are live bands and Nitro Alley with vendors selling all the cool merch. All ticket includes a "Pit Pass" so you can meet the drivers and see the machines up close. Get yours by clicking HERE.
