Colorado’s Historic Redstone Castle Could Be Yours At a Bargain Price
If you have access to at least $2 million dollars you could buy the famous Redstone Castle in Colorado when it goes to auction next month.
According to businessden.com, the historic castle will be sold to the highest bidder on October 7 providing the highest bid is at least $2 million. That sounds like a lot of money – and it is – but it's actually quite a bargain. Considering the castle was listed for sale at $7.5 million last year with Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty.
What can you expect to find in a 23,000 square foot castle that was built in 1902? There is plenty of historic offerings in the 42 rooms including Persian carpets, claw-foot bathtubs, European furniture, and lots of artwork. Some extras on the outside include a gatehouse, a 5000 square-foot carriage house, and a gazebo offering some great views.
The castle sits on 150 acres, and in 2006 was used in the filming of the movie “The Prestige.” The views of the surrounding mountain landscape are absolutely beautiful.
Obviously, you have to have deep pockets for this type of purchase. You need $250,000 cash just to get in on the bidding.
But, if you can come up with the cash, you could actually live in this castle. Platinum Luxury Auctions says the property is suitable for a one-family dwelling, or for commercial purposes like a restaurant, a bed and breakfast, or educational facility. There's no question for the right buyer the Redstone Castle is going to be a real bargain.
