Steamboat Sends The Season Out With A Two-Week Bash!
'Springalicious' adds an exclamation point to the season!
It's beautiful weather, a record snowpack, and a very large amount of fun! For years this end-of-season festival has been the marquee Colorado spring event. For two weeks it's nonstop live music, snow, and fun in Steamboat, AKA "Ski Town USA!"
One of the featured events is The Cardboard Classic! For nearly 40 years this crazy race has thrilled thousands! Party revelers create homemade cardboard sleds using only cardboard, glue, string, duct tape, masking tape, and whatever decorations they can round up. These contraptions race down the slope in hysterical fashion. An event not to be missed!
The Red Ball Express is Steamboat's version of a duck race. Over 100 large red balls roll down the Stampede course. The first ball down the mountain means cash prizes for the owner of that balls number! The local Rotary Club along with local charities sell ball adoptions to raise money for local youth programs in Routt County.
Of course, live music is a staple of the festival. After two weeks of live bands, the festival ends with the world-famous The Wailers! Sunday, April 14th at 3:30 don't miss one of the world's great reggae bands. After the loss of Bob Marley, this band has continued the tradition in his memory with several original members, including Aston ‘Familyman’ Barrett on bass guitar and lead guitarist Donald Kinsey are among this amazing eight-piece band!
