Self-Employed Coloradans Will Be Able to File for Unemployment
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment has announced that their system has been upgraded to allow self-employed workers to file for unemployment. According to 9 News, self-employed claims will be able to be filed starting on Monday, April 20.
Under normal circumstances, self-employed, gig workers, and independent contractors are not eligible for unemployment benefits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the federal CARES Act has made it possible for those workers to claim unemployment benefits.
