Next Friday isn't just the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season, it's National Record Store Black Friday.

Vinyl records are back in a big way. If you have a fan on your holiday shopping list make plans to stop downtown Grand Junction this Black Friday. For the most part, Black Friday is about getting up early to try and snag a super-sale deal at Wal-Mart or the mall. Here's a better idea.

Those in the retail record community have teamed up with record labels, artists, band managers, and distribution companies to pull together a list of special titles and special offers to sell at local record stores on the 24th. Triple Play Records, 530 Main Street is participating in this year's Black Friday Record Store Day. It's an extension of Record Store Day that occurs each year in the second or third week of April.

As an added bonus, Triple Play Records is partnering with the Mesa Theater to host a FREE screening of Beside Bowie: A Mick Ronson Story, the night of Black Friday starting at 8 p.m.

A complete list of new releases can be found at recordstoreday.com. For more info on Triple Play Records and Black Friday Record Store Day just follow them on their Facebook page.
