Colorado offers some of the best ski resorts around, and PlanetWare has named Colorado's top-rated ski resorts.

When it comes to hitting the slopes, Colorado skiers have lots of options to choose from. It all depends on how far you want to travel and how much you want to spend.

It should come as no surprise that Vail comes in at #1 on PlanetWare's list of top ski resorts in Colorado. It's certainly not the cheapest option, but with plenty of snow and 31 lifts, Vail has appeal for skiers of all abilities and attracts skiers from around the world.

Coming in at #2 on the list is Telluride. You couldn't ask for a more scenic ski experience in Colorado. Telluride has ski runs for all abilities as well as some areas for extreme skiers looking for a little more action.

Powderhorn did not make PlanetWare's top 10 list but did receive honorable mention as a smaller resort providing a great family experience for those that need to keep an eye on expenses.

One surprise in the top 10 was Purgatory, located near Durango. Although it's known more for beginner and intermediate skill level trails, Purgatory has some new advanced level terrain and tree skiing.

You can check out PlanetWare's complete top 10 list and plan your next ski outing to one of Colorado's top-rated ski resorts.
