Passenger Was Extricated in Thursday’s Timberline/Drake Crash
A crash at the busy Fort Collins intersection of Timberline Road and Drake Road caused a three-hour road closure on Thursday (Aug. 22).
A passenger in one of the vehicles was also temporarily trapped in the accident, according to a Fort Collins Police press release.
19-year-old Payton Spahn of Cheyenne had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. She was then transported to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries.
Spahn had been riding with 18-year-old driver Ashley Anderson in a 2019 GMC Terrain SUV. The two were traveling north on Timberline Road and attempted to make a left turn on to Drake Road despite a red turn signal light.
The SUV then collided with a 2014 Ford F150 truck that was traveling south on Timberline Road around 11:45 a.m. The crash occurred on the passenger side of the SUV.
Anderson suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene. The driver of the truck, 68-year-old Harley Freeman of Loveland, also suffered moderate injuries.
