The Eagle County Sheriff's office released a statement after a raft flipped in the Eagle River leaving one dead.

Around 1:30 p.m. a report of a flipped raft floating down the Eagle River was called into emergency services. According to the report, there were five people on board the raft when it flipped.

One person was able to make it out of the water safely and informed a golfer to call for help. Three other rafters were able to make it out of the water as well. The fifth person was said to still be in the water.

Emergency crews were able to locate and pull the fifth person out of the water. CPR was administered, then transported to the hospital. Recessutation was unsuccessful.

The identity of the individual was not released.

With the historic snowpack, Colorado is experiencing, river levels will rise quickly making them more dangerous than normal. Always wear a life vest, make sure you have identification on you, and you're prepared to be in cold water.
