Not Going To Jam And Looking For Something To Do?
Country Jam's not the only thing going on this weekend.
No question that Country Jam is the biggest annual local happening. Fans travel from all across the country to attend one of the best country music festivals the US. Yesterday I met people from New Mexico, Indiana, Louisiana, Texas, and more. But if country music isn't your thing, there is other fun stuff to do this weekend.
1-Grand Junction Rockies Opening Night- The Grand Junction Rockies home opener is tonight. The 2018 season gets underway as the Rockies take on Orem Owls. The first pitch is at 6:40 PM and stick around for the fireworks display after the game.
2-Food Truck Friday- Roll out to Fruita for Food Truck Fridays. Food trucks sling BBQ, pizza, seafood, Mexican, Thai, Italian and more. Each week they rotate out so it's never the same trucks twice. It's a great way to feed the family all in one stop. Plus, there's live music from some of the areas best bands. Trucks start dishing the food at 5:30.
3-Take Part In Art- The 4th annual "Take Part In Art" event is at the Lincoln Park Barn Saturday, June 16th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. There are demonstrations and live performances from local visual and performing arts groups. Unleash your creative side and take in this fun art event.
4-101st Army Concert Band- This amazing band filled with present and former military members perform classical music, marches, as well as playing a salute to veterans. The concert is at The Avalon Theater in downtown Grand Junction this Sunday afternoon. The doors open at 1:00 PM.
5-Lincoln Park Track Meet- Track fans check out this cool event Sunday, June 17th at 1:30 PM. There's running, jumping, and throwing competitions that take place on the track. Want to compete? Pick 3 events for $5 and add others for $1 each. Onsite registration begins at 1:00 PM.
