Proposed Colorado Bill Would Fine $300 For Texting and Driving
You might soon get fined for texting or talking on your phone in Colorado.
The Denver Post reports proposed legislation would fine drivers $300 for texting while driving and a minimum of $50 for talking on the phone while driving without using a hands-free device.
The bill would also prohibit drivers under 18 from using their phones in any way while driving. I'm going to assume this excludes the maps app on a hands-free device but its too soon to tell.
I totaled my car back in high school when I read a text while driving, so I can attest to the seriousness of this bill.
This bill was proposed last year but didn't pass and Colorado representatives like Dylan Roberts are determined to bass this bill into law, telling the Denver Post “It’s a pretty common-sense measure to make our roads safer.”
He went on to say that this bill is in response to the many who have been injured while texting and driving, according to Denver Post.
